My oil paintings on pieces of old doors and reclaimed wood are the foundation from which all my other creations evolve.

Step inside one door and experience my Organic Digital Designs – patterns derived and digitally created from my original oil paintings on wood. Inside a second door you will experience my mixed-medium pieces, including but not limited to any combination of materials: 100% recycled polyester, hand stitching, kozo paper, and oil based pencils. Step inside another door and experience my Snippets™, the one-inch squares that generate my greeting card images, Giant Snippets™ and more.

As I continue to explore the image, the medium and the whole of the small I've learned the possibilities are endless. The connection between the painting and the various extensions can't be done without first the Painting. And it will never be done without the Painting.

A Lightbulb Moment?
I had an idea and it involved a lamp shade. I found the antique glass lamp base and the shade (sold separately from one another – they weren't even in the same room at the antique store!) effortlessly one rainy morning. My father assisted mocking up the pattern for the lamp shade, my printer (Bam Bam Grafix) printed out a digital file I had created from one of my original paintings (Melody of the Cat's Meow), and my co-worker, Farmer Leah, felted the fiber balls for me using wool from the sheep at Gale Woods Farm. Then I sewed it all together for my show at the Fine Art Gallery at Normandale Community College. I'm so pleased with how the lamp shade turned out I might just need to do another.... :)
